I've noticed that not everyone understands the basics of co-op, so I decided to create a quick guide.
Definition of co-op
Operation Na Pali is not like Monster Hunt. It is not a race for the most points and it is not a race to the finish. ONP is all about working together as a team. Ammo does NOT regenerate, so be considerate and leave some pickups for the other players. If someone is lost, don't just let them wonder arround hopelessly, go back and help them through.
Levels end once one player reaches the goal. Please be considerate and wait for other players before ending the match.
Basics
Items
By default, items can be selected using your '[' and ']' keys, and used by your 'Enter/Return' key. If these keys do not do the trick, then bind the commands below:
InventoryNext,
InventoryPrevious and
InventoryActivate
Translator
The translator is used to read messages scattered all throughout the world. Get to your translator by using the binds above, or simply hit F2 to open it. If your F2 key does not open your translator, then bind it to the following command:
ActivateTranslator
HUD
The HUD shows your current items in the top right corner. Use your binds from above to cycle through your inventory.
Wooden Crates
ONP uses custom wooden boxes that burst into pieces whenever someone walks over them. Save your ammo and simply touch the boxes to destroy them!
Door Codes
Some doors require keycodes to open. You can find these in certain spots by using your Translator.
Crouching
Unlike the rest of UT, ONP adjusts your height when you crouch. You can use this to go through small holes or other secret areas.
Friendlies
I realize that a lot of players enjoy shooting Nali, but in ONP, they serve a purpose!
Nali: Just the plain ol Nali. These guys usually lead you someplace, so follow them and do NOT hurt them!
Cows & Rabbits: Everyone knows about the cows; they wonder arround aimlessly and never do you any harm. Keep the peace and avoid shooting these guys. All they want to do is eat some grass!
Followers
Followers are special creatures that will follow your orders. By using your "Cover Me" and "Hold this position" commands, you can tell them to either follow you, or stay where they are.
Following Mercenary: I realize that it may be a shock, but Mercenaries are friendly in ONP land. They follow you and help fight for you.
Following Nali: The Nali race grew tired of being pushed arround by the Skaarj, so they decided to join forces with you to help take down the Skaarj. These guys are just like the Mercenaries. Be warned, that on a few maps, there are some brainwashed Nali that WILL fight you.
Other followers: There are two other followers used in ONP. There is a Skaarj that only appears in NP32Strogg, and a human that appears in NP33Atje and NP34Atje.
